In this video, I’m breaking down the alarming reports coming out of Houston during Spring Break and the Houston Rodeo. While the headlines often focus on the standard chaos, there’s a much deeper "cheek clapping crisis" and public health surge that needs to be addressed. Key Discussion Points The Houston Surge: I discuss the shocking STD statistics provided by local medical professionals, including a 79% surge in syphilis and significant increases in HIV, gonorrhea, and chlamydia rates in the Houston area from 2025 to 2026. Pleasure Chasing vs. Consequences: Analysis of the current mindset among the youth (ages 15–35) where the fear of incurable diseases has seemingly vanished in favor of short-term pleasure and "living on the edge." Ecosystem Breakdown: I reflect on the lack of a protective community ecosystem for today's youth compared to previous generations. Back in the day, we had "Big Mamas" and neighborhood pillars who kept us on a productive path. Now, many feel their lives have no long-term value, leading to reckless decisions. The "Escapism" Factor: Why reckless behavior is often an escape from low self-esteem and uncertainty about the future. When you don't feel like your life is worth much, you don't value protecting it. Public Health Advice: As a public health professional, I'm urging anyone who participated in Spring Break festivities in Houston to get tested immediately. Most college campuses and local clinics offer low-cost or free testing—there’s no excuse not to go. Building Productive Pathways: We look at how systems like the NFL have clear developmental paths for success. We need to develop similar institutional ecosystems within the Black community so our youth understand how to become productive, valued members of society rather than just consumers of temporary pleasure. This isn't just about one weekend in Houston; it's about the long-term health and value we place on ourselves and our community. #HoustonSpringBreak #PublicHealth #STDPrevention #HoustonRodeo #CommunityEcosystem #BlackExcellence #HealthAwareness #OshayDukeJackson
