Leshan is only one hour away by high-speed train from Chengdu, and is easily accessible by China's high-speed rail network. There are trains almost every 15 minutes and you can either book ticket at the desk on arrival but I recommend using the Trip dot com app to book ahead of time, then just board using your passport. We travelled to Leshan for a day trip of eating. There are plenty of specialty Sichuan dishes that you can only find here like frilly shaomai and sweet-skinned duck (tian pi ya). The city is extremely laid back, and on a hot day you will find locals swimming in the river so don't forget to pack a swimsuit if you're visiting in summer. Locations 1. Fenzhengrou (breakfast spot): 九九豆腐脑(乐山总店) 2. Shaomai: 嘉州北味春老烧麦 3. Sweet skinned duck: 朱三甜皮鸭(教育学院总店) *The easiest way to find these if you're traveling is to paste the shop names in to Gaode maps 高德地图 (also called Amap).
