When using Cotton materials to make char cloth or Fire Rolls, they have to be 100% Cotton. If not, they'll produce very hard to ignite fire starters. When I made char cloth from an 80/20 blend of Cotton and Polyester, it worked, but had hard places in it and could only barely catch a spark. When I fire rolled some 80/20, it didn't ignite and left behind hard places in the failed fire roll. Those hard places were from the melted man made materials. That's how we can test these "100% Cotton" labeled fabrics and cotton balls that are coming from dishonest manufacturers. Set the materials on fire, snuff them out, and feel for the hard places. Of course, this same test works for any material that you have questions about. Additionally, when the materials pass the first test, I still like to try them out and see if they perform normally.
