I'm so happy to be painting Trunk of Gold elephant . Such a vibrant Gold elephant fitting in with Golden Mile theme in Leicester. So many different Gold hues and dark Melton Mowbray elephant grey in the background. Taken me 2 weeks to paint on and off in April. I thoroughly enjoyed creating this elephant. Thank you @wildinart @LOROSHospice .🙏 This is from Stomp Round Leicester about Artist write up Gayani is the artist behind the gorgeous creation that is Trunk of Gold. Delicately painted in 17 different shades of gold, the design mixes the vibrant wildflowers of Leicester with the golden elephant as a symbol of power, strength, prosperity and love. It represents Leicester’s unique blend of tradition and innovation. “My design brings together flowers from the local environment with culture of Leicester’s Golden Mile and my own Sri Lankan heritage. I was originally thinking of really colourful flowers but decided on gold instead because it means so much to so many cultures. “Gold is always something special and it is to me particularly as some of my ancestors were goldsmiths and engaged in crafts which are also reflected in the elephant. “Of course, here in Leicester we also have the Golden Mile, which is a really important place for the city culturally and I wanted my design to celebrate South Asian heritage too. “As a child in Sri Lanka I grew up with elephants living close by, and my love for elephants has stayed with me. “I’ve incorporated a selection of Leicester’s wildflowers into the design, including foxgloves, scarlet pimpernel, and wood anemone—reminiscent of fine jewellery, particularly earrings. Elephants, known for their remarkable ability to "hear" vibrations through their feet, inspired me to paint their feet in gold, adorned with delicate “forget-me-not” filigree socks, symbolizing memory and connection. “I hope my design will help improve people’s wellbeing – I want them to look at Trunk of Gold and feel good. “I’ve designed 15 sculptures for art trails like this one, but I think Trunk of Gold is the best one yet. It’s a tribute to Leicester’s history, nature, and enduring legacy—a golden reflection of the city’s heart and soul.” You can find Trunk of Gold at Belgrave Circle, the entrance to the Golden Mile. #SouthAsianHeritageMonth #StompRoundLeicester www.loroshospice.co.uk www.wildinart.co.uk @gayanigolddust6583 @gayanigolddust Instagram https://www.instagram.com/gayanigoldd... / 1flmwuufxu #wildinart #srilankanartychef Music: Lose Control Musician: AlexiAction URL: https://pixabay.com/music/lose-contro...
