Jet Airways Boeing 777-300ER VT-JEK returns to air as she takes off from Mumbai International Airport for the first time since April 2019 and also for the last time ever. Of the 123 aircraft that were in Jet’s possession, 12 remained with it while some are still stored, around 40 are in India with Spicejet, Vistara and Trujet. Others were returned to their lessors. A few weeks ago, Bank of Utah took one of Jet Airways' Boeing 777s, VT-JEK. This airframe flew for Jet Airways from Feb 2009 to March 2019 until the airline collapsed. JIHBTWO DAC, an Irish company took possession of the aircraft from 25th April 2019 to 24th June 2020, for non-payment of dues related to the lease of other aircraft in Jet’s fleet. This airframe was stored at Mumbai Airport since April 2019 until Bank of Utah took possession of her in late 2020. On 19th November 2020, the aircraft now registered as N351BU, departed from Mumbai Airport for the very last time for her flight to Tupelo Regional Airport, USA (via Portsmouth Airport, KPSM), where she will be completely disassembled and her parts will be put on sale. Such a sad end to a relatively young (12.8 years old) airframe. Farewell, VT-JEK.
