How to Completely Disassemble an Engine Block / Short Block

In this video, we completely disassemble and strip back the short block. We are taking everything apart in the bottom end of the engine so that we can replace the weak and old components with new refreshed parts. This process is relatively the same from car to car. You can take what you’ve learned here, and apply to it a 6 cylinder engine, an 8 cylinder engine, or any other kind of engine for that matter. Try to take out as little as you can. What I mean by that is don’t try to take out the crankshaft with all of the connecting rods and pistons attached to it. If there is a way to remove a single component at a time, do exactly that. Because the tolerances in the lower part of the engine are very small, and the components themselves are quite heavy, it is easy to cause damage. A scratch or gouge a cylinder wall or bearing surface is NOT good… By taking your time and not rushing, you will be eliminating that room for error.
