In this special Beyond the Page event, GBH News reporter Craig LeMoult talks with acclaimed historian and screenwriter Geoffrey C. Ward about his New York Times bestselling book, "The American Revolution: An Intimate History", co-authored by Ken Burns. Drawing on eyewitness accounts, original documents, art, and maps, this richly illustrated history re-examines America’s founding struggle from the ground up by telling the story not only of famous leaders, but of ordinary soldiers, as well as underrepresented populations such as women, African Americans, Native Americans, and American Loyalists who lived through and shaped the war. In this virtual conversation, Ward discusses the making of the book and its connection to the landmark PBS documentary series from Ken Burns, "The American Revolution", and answers audience questions as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary of the Revolution’s beginning. 00:00 Quote from Geoffrey C.
