Here's a cover of my new favorite jazz standard, "Midnight Sun", by Lionel Hampton and Johnny Burke. This video features the brilliant vocalist/pianist/composer/arranger Kelly Green! I’m super inspired by Kelly and thrilled we finally got to collaborate. We filmed this on a muggy day back in July at her beautiful home studio/oasis. Kelly arranged the songs, invited over her band mates (Dierk Peters, Luca Soul Rosenfeld, & Evan Hyde), and I got to languish in their musical magic! It's fun to play with a band that has worked together for a long time, because you can hear it in the way they interact musically, like a shorthand between close friends conversing :) Anyway lol all of this is to say that I didn't have to do much- I got to sing a little and then just sit back and enjoy them !
