This video features: • Radial engine start • Taxi sequence • Beautiful low flybys • Landing Built in November 1936 by Focke-Wulf Flugzeugbau AG in Bremen (Werk Nr. 1904), this classic biplane was delivered to the Swedish Air Force in January 1937. After 13 years in military training service, it was sold in 1950 to Värmlands Flygklubb and flew as SE-BRZ until 1966. Following decades in preservation — and a period in storage after the Gillstad Museum closed in 2006 — the aircraft was acquired in 2012 by Richard Menage (York, UK). What followed was an impressive 3,500-hour restoration, carried out over five years together with retired engineer Henry Tuke, bringing this 1930s trainer back to the skies. ✈ Aircraft Data Type: Focke-Wulf FW-44J Stieglitz Year of Manufacture: 1936 Engine: Siemens Sh14A radial Power: 160 hp MTOW: 900 kg Wingspan: 9.0 m Home Base: RAF Bagby (EGNG) Owner: Richard Menage Enjoy the unmistakable sound of the 160 hp Siemens Sh14A radial engine and the graceful display of this pre-war German trainer at Hahnweide.
