Alaap and Vilambit Gat on Flute by Pt. Nityanand Haldipur Tabla: Pt. Aneesh Pradhan Audio & Video Producer: Atul Merchant 'Jataayu' Under the banner of LINEAGE Connoisseurs rue that there is an ebb in the purity and authenticity in Indian Classical music. Paradoxically the artistes believe that there is declining audience for such music. LINEAGE is our attempt to resolve this paradox. Indian classical music is a communion from heart to heart. It appeals to the innermost recesses of our psyche. It conjures up the entire spectrum of human emotions - from verbal to non-verbal, from despair to hope; from tranquility to ecstasy. As we play or listen to music, for one fleeting, transient moment, we become one with the Whole. If our music momentarily makes us sad and pains us, we know that it is the pain in burning of a healing potion when applied to the wound. It doesn’t exacerbate the wound; it heals it. And during that moment, we apprehend that from sadness springs joy, from tranquility springs ecstasy. True musical sounds touch the very core of our being. So, while listening or preferably practicing music, Let us think nothing, see nothing, do nothing, but get immersed in that music and hear the primordial sound, The Naad Brahma.
