Some called him a hero, others a demon, and many feared speaking his name. The recent Indian film Dhurandhar portrays the Lyari gang war and a key figure from it, but many who know Lyari have raised questions about its accuracy. In the 1970s, Haji Lalo ruled Lyari, known for drugs, extortion, and gambling. Arshad Pappu, with Lalo's support, quickly established his dominance in the area. Then came Babu Dakait, also involved in criminal activities, leading to tensions with Lalo. In 1996, Babu Dakait killed Rehman Baloch's father, Dad Muhammad, prompting the young Rehman to vow revenge. Babu Dakait and Lalo formed an alliance with Rehman, and a powerful gang was born. Rehman Baloch, now known as Rehman Dakait, became a leader among the Baloch, performing welfare work for his community. After killing Babu Dakait, Rehman solidified his power, and Lyari became a place where brutal killings and violence were common. After Haji Lalo’s imprisonment, Arshad Pappu took control, leading to a new wave of crime. With rocket launchers and grenades, gang wars escalated until Pappu was captured. Seizing the opportunity, Rehman Dakait rose to prominence, gaining political support. In 2007, he was part of Benazir Bhutto’s security during the first attack on her. In 2009, after another bloody conflict, Rehman Dakait was killed in a police encounter. His death marked the end of an era, but the cycle of violence in Lyari continued. The tragic and violent story of Lyari’s gang wars remains one that few filmmakers could fully capture. #LyariGangWar #Dhurandhar #RehmanDakait #GangWars #LyariUnderworld #GangsterStories #CrimeAndRevenge #LyariHistory #PowerAndBetrayal Lyari, Dhurandhar, Gang War, Rehman Dakait, Haji Lalo, Arshad Pappu, Babu Dakait, Revenge, Political Power, Lyari History Disclaimer: This video is for informational and entertainment purposes only.
