Build an IBM PC Clone from Chips Part 1 - MicroATX ISA Backplane

This is first in a series of videos that shows how to assemble a computer from individual IC chips. In this particular video I will be assembling an ISA backplane which is a PCB with expansion slots. The backplane is similar to a motherboard but lacks a processor and memory. The processor and memory are plugged in as an expansion card. The slots provide the expansion cards with a common address and data bus and also provide power. This particular board is a very popular option for vintage computer enthusiasts. It has many modern features. It comes in a standard microATX form factor. It has POST (Power On Self Test) code display which helps in debugging hardware issues. It has power reset buttons as well as individual LED indicator lights for each of the power rails. The board has a built in -5V voltage regulator, which compensates for the missing -5V rail in most modern supplies. It has a standard ATX connector which allow you to use modern power supply.
