I was staying in this very room when the April 2nd, 7.4 earthquake hit. While I was absolutely terrified, there was no discernible damage to the hotel. That morning, as aftershocks continued to rock the building, I had breakfast on the top floor, and watch the staff go about their day as per usual, unperturbed by the light fixtures swaying from the ceiling. If you're looking to stay in Taipei, I would absolutely recommend this hotel. Aside from how unaffected we were by the earthquake, the staff was lovely, the room impeccably kept, and the overall experience was wonderful. About the W Taipei: Perched atop Taipei City Hall station next to iconic Taipei 101 and Taipei Arena, this is the only hotel where you can see the whole 101 building from your room.
