The tale of "Nontok" begins with the lowly duty of a giant, tasked with washing the feet of the gods at the base of Mount Kailash. Though it appeared to be a service to the celestial beings, the role was, in reality, a source of constant humiliation. Day after day, Nontok endured the gods' mockery, insults, and scorn, until he was stripped of all dignity. When he could endure no more, Nontok sought an audience with the great god Isvara to appeal for justice, hoping his eons of faithful service would finally be rewarded. Isvara granted the boon he desired, transforming Nontok's finger into a weapon of immense power: it could now point at any being and strike them dead instantly. Armed with this new power, Nontok returned, feeling his dignity had been restored. But he used this power not for protection, but for revenge. Mercilessly, he began to slaughter the very gods who had tormented him. Chaos erupted across the heavens, and the god Indra, alarmed, brought news of Nontok's rampage to Isvara. Upon learning that his boon was being so grievously misused, Isvara became enraged. He commanded the great god Narayana to descend and subdue Nontok, putting an end to the turmoil. Rather than confronting him directly, Narayana chose the path of guile. He transformed himself into a celestial nymph, Suvarna Apsorn, whose beauty was beyond compare. He then appeared on a path where Nontok would soon pass, dancing with mesmerizing grace. Nontok, arrogant and drunk on his newfound power, was instantly captivated by the sight of her. When she invited him to dance with her, he agreed without hesitation. Suspecting nothing, Nontok began to mimic her dance. Each graceful movement she made, he copied, unknowingly being led step-by-step into a fatal trap. The dance culminated in a pose requiring him to point his finger at his own thigh. As Nontok mirrored the move, the power of the diamond finger fulfilled the boon's decree. He collapsed in agony, struck down by his own hand. In that instant, the nymph transformed back into the mighty Narayana, who stood over the now-powerless Nontok. Narayana then spoke of their next incarnation. He declared that Nontok would be reborn in a far mightier form, with ten heads and twenty arms, wielding immense power, so that their future battle would be a worthy one. And he, Narayana, would descend as a mortal man to confront him once again. And so, Nontok was reincarnated as Thotsakan, the son of King Lastian and Queen Ratchada of Longka.
