The making of my recent RISD student film, Flied Mind. Skip to 1:35 for clips of finished animation. The film is about a fly that gets stuck inside a girls ear and lives inside her head. Due to RISD closing during the pandemic, everything was crafted in my hometown bedroom using whatever I could get my hands on. Basically everything was made with trash and liquid latex (like $10-$15 on amazon). The lighting was just one cheap light that I shined through a hole in the top of my cardboard set. I covered all my windows in foil to block out any light that would cause flickering/changing during my animation shooting. I used the stop-frame software Dragonframe, but there are multiple free apps to get on a phone or ipad that can do the exact same thing just as well. -The dome is made from cardboard and a metal clothes hanger, then paper-machéd and painted with liquid latex mixed with paint. Veins were drawn with hot glue then painted with latex for detail. -The wood flooring is made from cut and painted popsicle sticks with a glossy mod podge coating. -Furniture is made from cardboard. Details of the vinyl record player and doorknob were made from Sculpy oven bake clay and then painted. The notebook and pencil were made from paper. -The brain is made from strips of foam sports wrap that were tightly rolled, glued to a newspaper wad base, then painted with liquid latex and paint. -The puppet was made with a wire armature, foam, cotton balls, foam sports wrap, liquid latex, and hot glue. The eyes are painted buttons. View more at my vimeo: https://vimeo.com/sydneym
