Professor David Brownlee explores the context and social environment which influenced Wright's work and directly impacted the design of Beth Sholom Synagogue. Using Wright's original designs and sketches, as well as examples of automobiles and other influences, this lecture is an opportunity to appreciate Wright's work through the lens of the 1950's. University of Pennsylvania Professor David Brownlee is an historian of modern architecture whose interests embrace a wide range of subjects in Europe and America, from the late eighteenth century to the present.
