Boondocking at Rutherford Beach & Exploring Historic Fort Anahuac In this episode, we take you along as we spend a week boondocking at Rutherford Beach in Louisiana, a hidden gem on the Gulf Coast. While the wind kept us company most days (with a little rain mixed in), the beauty of the beach made it all worth it. Charlene enjoyed peaceful walks along the shoreline, and the best part? The beach is off-leash friendly, meaning the pups had an absolute blast running free! From there, we made our way to Fort Anahuac Park in Texas for a short but scenic two-night stay. This site holds a unique place in history—once the location of Fort Anahuac, a Mexican military outpost built in the 1830s to enforce trade laws and collect customs duties. It became a flashpoint for tensions leading up to the Texas Revolution, with figures like William B. Travis and James Bowie playing a role in the early unrest. Today, the area is a peaceful park along Trinity Bay, perfect for fishing, relaxing, and taking in the views.
