Kauhava Airport plays a significant role in Finnish aviation history. Founded in 1929, the airport served as the home of the Finnish Air Force Air Force Academy for a long time, where numerous Finnish pilots were trained for decades. The Air Force Academy's operations in Kauhava ended in 2014, but its legacy still lives strong in the area. Kauhava Airport and its surroundings are an integral part of Finnish aviation history, and they provide a unique place for aviation events and exhibitions. The roots of the Air Force Academy in Kauhava date back to the late 1920s, when the Finnish Air Force began to focus its training activities in the area. Kauhava was chosen as the training center due to its strategic location and suitable terrain conditions. Over the years, the Air Force Academy trained hundreds if not thousands of pilots who served in the Finnish Air Force in various parts of the country. Several different aircraft models were used in the training, some of which can still be seen in the Kauhava airport area. #siivetwings #kauhava2025 #siivetlehti -- Siivet-Wings magazine: http://siivet.fi/ For more great aviation videos please see: / siivet1986
