MARY CHILIMA DELIVERS HEARTFELT SPEECH AT THE SAULOS KLAUS CHILIMA FOUNDATION LAUNCH Mary Chilima, Chairperson of the Saulos Klaus Chilima (SKC) Foundation on Wednesday evening officially launched the foundation, at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC), in honour of the former Vice President, who died on 10th June 2024. The event was graced by President Lazarus Chakwera and Vice President Michael Usi, who witnessed the significant occasion. The Saulos Klaus Chilima Foundation is committed to supporting and uplifting the less privileged in Malawi. Through various initiatives and projects, the foundation seeks to address crucial issues such as education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and social welfare, ensuring that underserved communities have access to opportunities for a better life. Mary Chilima emphasised that the foundation is a symbol of excellence, honouring the legacy of a leader who had the people’s best interests at heart. "He was a man devoted to his faith, always serving the nation with all his heart, and deeply compassionate towards those in need," she said. She also added that if he were still around, Dr. Chilima would have wanted his name and life to be celebrated through helping others. Boyd Luwe, Chairperson of the Saulos Klaus Chilima Foundation Organising Committee, urged individuals to refrain from politicising the Foundation. He stressed that those who attempt to do so should be heavily condemned. Luwe described the late Vice President as remarkable and deserving of celebration, highlighting how Dr. Chilima was a beacon of excellence in helping those in need. He then thanked the people for their overwhelming support and expressed his belief that the foundation is a gift to the nation. In his remarks President of Rotary club of Lilongwe Robert Chikuse remembered Chilima as a man who had charity initiatives at his heart He said the foundation will survive the test of time as it has been established on values of love, transparency and true compassion to help those in need. The launch coincides with what would have been Dr. Chilima's 52nd birthday.
