Why Freedom isn't Free. He Still Pays the Price.. This Song was written in Honor of the Veterans who have sacrificed so much to serve us. Freedom is not Free. After a video interview with a veteran in the Spring of 2015 I was moved by the sacrifices and struggles the veteran faced upon returning home to regular life. The Soldier had been wounded in several different conflicts. He returned to civilian life and was faced with countless trials. PTSD, Depression, Alcohol, Prescription Drugs, and memories that wouldnt go away all took their toll. He battled inner demons, for years but eventually found a way out. It took him years to rise above the difficulties he faced. Never before had I really seen the depth of the wounds of the men and women who serve our country in the military. Battle scars may heal physically but often times the wounded soul is a much harder thing to overcome. I was moved and deeply grateful for his sacrifice. I listened as he spoke of watching his best friend die in front of him. "It rocked my world" I went home and wrote this song titled, "He Still Pays the Price." We ought to be grateful for our freedom because it comes at high price. I will be forever in debt to our veterans. Don't let them stand alone! Though we will never fully understand what they have done for us we can show gratitude and thank them in whatever way we know how. This is my way of saying thank you.
