Shourtney/Shartney/Shayne and Courtney moments from Try Not To Laugh on Smosh Pit post-April 1 2024 aka after the hard launch. Ft. a VERY noticeable increase in doing their bits together/helping each other out and TNTL is even better for it Ft. clips from Try Not To Laugh Challenge #144 - Impressions Only!; #145 w/ Ify Nwadiwe; #146 - Courtney's Birthday!; #147; #152; #153 Ft. MacDoesIt; #156 - Impressions Only!; #158 Ft. Katie Marovitch; #159 - Gauntlet w/ Our Crew! There is one clip I intentionally left out of this compilation from TNTL #156, where Courtney narrated Shayne holding a boomerang as it’s “internal monologue” with an overstated accent. Boomerangs are a tool of cultural significance to the First Nations people of the Australian continent. The trade in knock-off souvenirs of culturally significant goods is a significant detriment to the economic stability of First Nations people and communities, and there is considerable debate about whether it’s at all appropriate for non-First Nations people to use items including boomerangs and didgeridoos, particularly in such a joking and disrespectful way. America does a really awful job of not being racist towards First Nations cultures, even within contexts that usually have the best intentions to avoid racism, and as someone with a complicated connection to First Nations history in Australia I’m not comfortable supporting that. I will, however, educate where I can, because I understand a lot of the American approach is ignorance more than malicious intent.
