Geysir comes from gjosa, which means 'squirt'. Unfortunately, the Geysir is no longer as active, but a few meters from the Geysir there is another geyser, the “Strokkur” or 'churn'. In this video you can see this geyser spouting its water up to 20 meters, which it does every 5 to 8 minutes. In the immediate vicinity of both of these geysers are several hot springs with blue colored water. This is caused by silicates.
