YEAR ONE RECAP | Building a Log Cabin on Our Private Island

In our first year we ended up doing about 40 trips to the island and spent well over 100 nights there. This was our first year on the island! It definitely had its ups and downs but if you told me before this all started we'd have cut down so many trees and built as much as we have so far I would not have believed you! From nothing to an island tiny home, can't wait for year 2! More about us, the island and the process: The island is completely secluded, has no electricity or plumbing and had nothing on it when we bought it so far we have built a mini log cabin, outhouse, tent platform and a barge. We want to turn this island into a fully functioning summer cottage with a log cabin, sauna and other amenities. of The lake freezes in the winter and the weather conditions are tough hopefully the mini cabin makes it a bit easier to build all year long. There's a lot of work to be done as the island is over 2.5 acres (1 hectare) and we have no experience in off-grid living, carpentry or building. So any tips or advice are greatly appreciated, as we are planning on doing everything ourselves and transforming the island into our own little paradise.
