In this tutorial video, you will learn how to rig a character in Blender in a way that makes it easy to import and animate in Cascadeur. We go step-by-step through the process of creating a clean and simple rig, and cover important tips to ensure compatibility with Cascadeur. If you're looking to create professional and natural-looking animations, this guide is for you! In this video you’ll learn: • Preparing your model for rigging • Creating a simple rig (manual or auto-rig) • Exporting FBX with the correct settings • Importing into Cascadeur and fixing common issues Software used: • Blender (latest version) • Cascadeur (Free version) Script (for inside the video): Hi everyone! In this video, we’re going to learn how to rig a character in Blender so that we can easily import it into Cascadeur for animation. Step 1: Preparing the Model Before anything else, make sure your model is clean. Apply all transforms (use Ctrl + A) to apply scale and rotation. Step 2: Rigging in Blender You can use a manual rig or tools like Rigify or Auto-Rig Pro. But keep in mind that Cascadeur works best with a simple skeleton. So include only the basic bones. • Head • Neck • Spine • Arms • Legs Avoid using IK chains or extra controllers—Cascadeur doesn’t recognize them. Step 3: Exporting as FBX Go to File Export FBX and make sure these settings are applied: • Only Armature and Mesh are selected • Apply Transform is checked • Bake Animation is turned off • Add Leaf Bones is disabled Step 4: Importing into Cascadeur Now open Cascadeur and import the FBX file. If the skeleton is set up correctly, Cascadeur will recognize it automatically and you can start animating right away. That’s it for today’s tutorial. If you have any questions or run into issues while importing your character into Cascadeur, feel free to ask in the comments. Thanks for watching!
