Germany - The republic of the elderly and immigrants

Germany has one of the oldest populations in the world. Germany's healthcare system is funded by workers. But the proportion between workers and retirees in Germany is worsening. Germany's immigrants are increasing in numbers and Germany sees migration as the solution to its problem of an ageing population. The retirement age is rising in Germany. In fact the migration crisis triggered this as German civil servants and teachers were needed to deal with it. There are 1.5 million job vacancies in Germany. Germany's ministers for labour see economic migrants as the solution to plug this gap, rather than asylum seekers, whose number is falling in Germany.
