What is sin, really—and why does understanding it correctly matter so much? Most people think of sin only as something we do: bad choices, moral failure, or rule-breaking. But Scripture describes sin in two distinct ways—as a condition and as behavior. In this video, we explore sin as a noun and sin as a verb, and why confusing the two leads to guilt, fear, legalism, and misunderstanding the gospel itself. In this teaching, we cover: • Sin as a condition of separation (hamartia) • Sin as *behavior that flows from that condition (hamartanō) • Why behavior modification cannot heal separation • Why Christians still struggle even after salvation • How grace and the Holy Spirit address both the condition and the conduct This distinction brings clarity to salvation, sanctification, and spiritual growth—and explains why we need more than moral instruction. We need a Savior. And we need the power of the Holy Spirit. ⸻ This video is part of an ongoing study through 2 Peter focused on spiritual maturity, discipleship, and living under Christ’s authority. 👉 In the next video, we’ll look closely at the Holy Spirit—the power God gives to restore what was lost. #BibleStudy #Sin #ChristianTheology #SpiritualGrowth #ChristianDiscipleship #Grace #HolySpirit
