A brief animated introduction to transformational training. In Author Dr Wayne Dyer’s last movie the Shift, he speaks of the morning of our lives being dominated by the search for power, pleasure and recognition, where the needs of our youthful egos dominate our consciousness. The afternoon of our lives, when we have shifted beyond our need to be right, to be acknowledged, to be in control, we finally start to dwell in the lofty realms of self-actualization. That state where we finally recognize our true value and gifts and use them for a higher purpose. We shift from a state of just getting through another day, into a state of creative flow, mature collaboration, and meaningful contribution. Once you’ve made this shift, you automatically and naturally lead others, no matter what your position. As Simon Sinek explains in his golden circle model, customers automatically respond more positivity to companies who operate from their why. And everyone responds positively to individuals who do too. Knowing your why or your purpose, connects you to the spirit of service, which is the golden essence or reason why any organization, team or job actually exists. Living your why, catapults you out of egoic limitations, and gives you access to greater level of creativity, clarity, motivation and contribution. You don’t however reach these heights of personal mastery and leadership by simply studying your companies purpose statement, nor by racking up more qualifications or poring over your personal swot analysis in search of your strengths and weaknesses. Though these have their place of course. Studies on emotional intelligence, clearly point to self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills as the keys to success in every kind of job. Though most of us eventually start to mature through age and experience, with the right knowledge and practice we can vastly speed up the process. In times of unpredictable challenges, if you are still struggling to manage yourself, your work load and your relationships at work, then it’s only going to get harder. The shift to living in purpose, meaning and potential, is like putting yourself back on your feet, up the right way. Everything becomes easier! In all my courses, no matter the topic, these basics are established. As once you know who you are, why you’re doing what you are doing, and what you are trying to create, everything else falls into place. Whether it’s communicating assertively, speaking in public authentically, solving problems creatively, managing your task list efficiently, or any other soft skill. Knowing your why, what, how and especially who you are at the centre of it all are truly the keys to the transformative changes we all strive for.
