Earlier today January 27th 2026, Just weeks after its Boeing 787-10 order announcement, Delta Air Lines announces another widebody aircraft order. In a news release Delta announces its latest order of 31 more airbus aircraft as it exercises 10 of the widebody options it had made during its A350-1000 order and adds an addition 20 more options. The airlines latest order features 16 Airbus A330-900s and 15 Airbus A350-900s to add to its long haul fleet with deliveries for this batch of aircraft to start in 2029. Recently receiving its final A330NEO from its original order, the airline currently operates a fleet of 81 A330CEO and NEO aircraft. With 11 A330-223s, 31 A330-323s & -302s and 39 A330-941s which will bring the 330-900 to a total of 55 when the new deliveries come if no further options are taken. The A330-900 currently seats a total of 281 passengers in its 4 class configuration with 29 Delta One suites, 28 Premium Selects seats, 56 Comfort Plus seats and 168 main cabin seats. Delta is currently still taking deliveries from orders prior to this announcement of its A350-941 fleet. With the current 40 A350-900s the airline has flying, the airline will have a total of 59 of the -900 variant once the previous 4 aircraft orders and the additional 15 are filled. The A350-900 currently has 2 different configurations although the 306 seat 359 versions are being converted to the 275 seat 35H which features 40 Delta One suites, 40 Premium Select seats, 36 Comfort Plus seats, and 159 Main Economy seats. New deliveries are coming in the 35H config with the new redesigned dark cabin. The airline will also start taking delivery of the first of its 20 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft in early 2027. The addition aimed to help with some of its current extra long haul flying that is often pay load optimized. On January 13th of this year, the airline also announced its order of 30 Boeing 787-10 aircraft to be used on some of its high capacity transatlantic and South American flights. Deliveries are expected in 2031.
