Teachers in the North Eastern region decry insecurity

Non local teachers, posted in different parts of the North Eastern region, have been trying to capture the attention of the Teachers Service Commision chair lady, Nancy Macharia, for two weeks. This comes days after the commissioners from the TSC allegedly agreed to transfer the non local teachers, a move that was not well received by legislators from the area. The MPs protested terming the move as a failure by the TSC to consider the plight of hundreds of learners in the area. According to the teachers, the transfers never took place, and they are still demanding to be heard. Last Friday, suspected Al Shabaab militants killed three non-local teachers, in an attack in Qarsa, Wajir County.
