Surprise! Inspiring Resilience

This is a desirable trait in most of all of our work, but can be rather difficult to achieve. We're all out here trying to build systems: systems of computers or system of people and we need some resilience. By looking outside of our own practices we can find not only compelling stories, but also inspiration for our own work! In this talk I will bring examples from history, current times, and from fields other than software engineering. We're talking aircraft carriers, race cars, priceless works of art and hard-fought wisdom from across the accomplishments of humans and even nature itself. Join me in marveling at they myriad ways things keep working, and we'll get some cool ideas for how to create resilience in your organization or systems.
