It’s in the delta style of Lightning Hopkins, one of my favourite blues guitar players and vocalists. Track #2 - Last Fair Deal Guitar Played – Tasman 150-OE This is my take on the 1936 Robert Johnson number. I was playing Robert's gem 'Last Fair Deal' one day and thought it would be great fun to play as a 2/4 country feel. With the snare and upright bass, it has a flavour of its own." Track #3 - I Want to Go Guitar Played – Tasman 150-OE I just love the different feel of this track and what John Mayall has done with delta style blues. I was lucky enough to support him at the Basement. John and his wife were genuinely nice to me. This track is for them. Track #4 – Hard Head Guitar Played – Epiphone ES-339 Interesting to do this track and see peoples reactions on the night of the recording. Some people were laughing (nervously) and others were raising eyebrows. This song and the tone that it was performed back in the 50s is part of the non politically correct history of the blues. Track #5 - I Ain’t Coming Home Guitar Played – Epiphone ES-339 I wrote this song before heading to Memphis for the International Blues Challenge 2020. I wrote it in the traditional vein of 50s blues. Track #6 – Roadblock Guitar Played – Gibson ES-235 in Gloss Vintage Sunburst Johnny Adams is one of my favourite blues singers. This song has great lyrics and the fellas Jonathan and Andrew did a great job on this one. Track #7 – Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying Guitar Played – Gibson ES-235 in Gloss Vintage Sunburst I’ve always wanted to record this ballad that I first heard Ray Charles do years ago. I glad that we had the chance to put this track on the record. Track #8 – Diamonds at Her Feet Guitar Played – Gibson ES-235 in Gloss Vintage Sunburst A significant memory of my time playing in the line up of The Foreday Riders. Ron King introduced me to this song and maybe more importantly this chord progression. A lot of fun to blow over. Thanks Ron Track #9 – Bayou Guitar Played – Gibson ES-235 in Gloss Vintage Sunburst This is a George Benson track that I ran past the band with just before we started recording. This is not a strong style of mine, but I will always enjoy the challenge of playing the style of Be Bop Blues. Andrew and Jonathan really blew me away on this track!
