At 103-years-old, Florrie Cuttino still remembers her classroom days like they were yesterday. “I’m glad it’s here,” she said softly, looking around the museum walls. “Because it makes you remember.” Cuttino was a student at the Myrtle Beach Colored School, which first opened its doors in 1932, at a time when educational opportunities for Black children in the South were limited and unequal. But inside those walls, she found something powerful — a chance to learn.
