With the Utah trip behind us and Beatrice (Trixy’s cute little yellow Jeep) in the shop for repairs, we decide to keep it local for the weekend! Join us as we explore some of the history of the Temecula Valley in this special introductory edition of our occasional video series: History - Hiding in Plain Sight. This series explores unique and somewhat quirky locations both home and abroad, and is an excellent way for us to ‘break up’ the routine of weekly trail runs with some added spice. 👍🏻 Don’t expect some boring, long-winded history lesson… you know us!!! What you can expect are SOMEWHAT accurate facts mixed with ridiculous conversations, great food and a geniune love of life and adventure. ❤️ In this video, we briefly explore the history of two of the the founding fathers of Temecula (Louis Wolf and Walter Vail), and take you to the site of a major battle (the Temecula Massacre) that took place in what we now know as the Vail Lake area. We conclude the evening at the burial site for the victims of that event. Along the way, we reflect upon our time in St. George while enjoying good food, wine and atmosphere courtesy of the MANY incredible establishments Temecula has to offer! ❤️ Here is a link to more information about the Temecula Massacre: https://temeculaca.gov/155/Temecula-M... Here is more information on the settling of Temecula Valley, including the roles of Walter Vail and Louis Wolf: https://temeculaca.gov/150/History-of... A big THANK YOU to Jeff the Blacksmith for letting me beat the S*&% out of his triangles 😂 and for the AWESOME knife!!! ✌️ Special thanks to the City of Temecula for being the awesome and QUIRKY city you are! Don’t go changing!!! ❤️ HUGE shout-out to the staff of the Temecula KOA at Vail Lake for their permission to film this video.
