Hey guys, following the release of Arkham Horror: Mother's Embrace, I've decided to delve deep into what makes Lovecraftian horror games Lovecraftian. This culminated in a sizable analysis of tropes and themes in the OG cosmic horror literary tradition as well as their translation into a game setting. We'll stick to "Lovecraft Universe' titles in this one - so expect references to board games like Elder Sign, Arkham Horror and Mansions of Madness. As well as video games: Call of Cthulhu (2018) and The Sinking City. Finally, we'll be using Mother's Embrace, the newly released tactical RPG/investigation game by Asmodee Digital as a case study.
