Date filmed: 29/07/2019 Route: Dartmouth Steam Railway Between Kingswear Station and Greenway Halt Location: A379 Bridge Road, Kingswear Trains: DSR Loco No. 7827 "Lydham Manor" - 1:09 Located on the slipway to the Kingswear Higher Ferry just across the River Dart from Dartmouth in Devon, and controlled from the small signal box beside it which also has control of Kingswear Marina Level Crossing and monitors it via means of CCTV. This level crossing is located on the Dartmouth Steam Railway, and both this level crossing and the Marina level crossing within Kingswear are connected by a very scenic three-quarter-mile long footpath which runs right beside the steam railway. A ferry slipway is a very unique and unusual place to have a level crossing in this country! There are NRS-style halogen (incandescent) road lights in operation at this crossing (one of which has a rather odd mounting bracket), along with two loud alarms which produce more old-fashioned sounds. There are three barriers level crossing, and they're all old motorised GWE barriers, making this one of only three level crossings in the UK with this set-up (along with Harlech and Deganwy Station Level Crossings), and it's the only level crossing in England with this set-up since the other two level crossings mentioned are in Wales.
