Engine 270 Northbound! A Cab Ride in Reading & Northern’s Executive F Units

On April 23, 2023, I acquired a cab ride ticket for the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley Chapter of the NRHS’ Oneida Clipper Revenge excursion. This photo charter consisted of five hopper cars, a caboose, and coaches for the passengers. We were scheduled to leave Reading at 10 AM sharp, and with two blasts on the horn, we headed northbound. Flying through the PA countryside, the F units provided for a nice and smooth ride. After pulling in at port Clinton, the f units backed up, set off the coaches, and came through for a photo run by. After reboarding, it was northbound again. We screamed through tamaqua blasting the horn, and flew up Hometown Hill at notch 8. At haucks, we switched over to the hazelton branch and headed for Oneida jct. We had one other runby at a ballast lot, before proceeding to Oneida to end the day.
