R-Type Final - Ship Showcase - Stage 6.0 with Warhead - R-Typer Difficulty

This is stage 6.0 - Floating Graves - with the Warhead on R-Typer difficulty. Played on Score Attack. About this ship: This is the ship from R-Type II. It's supposed to be the R9 Custom version, and it shows. It looks similar to the R9 Arrowhead and it shares the yellow weapon. The red weapon is a short range blast that does splash damage the surroundings. The blue weapon fires two lasers that will bend at 45 degree angles one time to strike enemies. R-Type II had five laser crystals. It originally used all of the R9 Arrowhead's weapons plus the red and blue weapons from this game. Since R-Type Final only uses the three color system, the original red and blue weapons were replaced by the grey and green weapons from R-Type II. The Force behaves exactly like the Standard Force when detached. The wave cannon is a two loop charge that diffuses at the second loop, just like it did in R-Type II. The Round Bits will usually fire with a red weapon equipped, but not with the Warhead, so I used Shadow Bits for it here. This is a decently powerful ship. The ship's hit box is also more clearly defined - see my personal note for my thoughts on that. Pros: If you're an R-Type fan then you'll appreciate this for its historical value. The red weapon does splash damage and it very powerful on its own. The Diffusion Wave Cannon can cover a majority of the screen and is very powerful if you can get all the bolts to strike a single enemy. Cons: Red weapon does not travel the length of the screen, so you have to get close to hit enemies with it. Second loop charge on the wave cannon is not focused, so getting right in the enemy's face and letting it go is the only way to make the majority of the damage add up. Round Bits do not fire with the red weapon equipped. Ships in this series: Warhead, Sunday Strike Stage note: Every single shoot em up player has a stage from a particular game that they consider hell. Even if it isn't hard to someone else, or there are other, harder stages in other games. For me, this is that stage. I've played a lot of shoot em ups and this is the one stage that my mind always returns to when I think of the words "hell" and "difficult" in relation to the genre. This is the Bydo home world now, and space looks desolate. The red background gives the impression that you're descending into hell itself. That's my take. The stage music is beautiful - suitable for one so difficult. Did you know: R-Type takes place in 2163, R-Type Delta takes place in 2164, R-Type II takes place in 2165, R-Type III takes place in 2169, and R-Type Final takes place beginning in 2183 (according to the Japanese instruction manual). That means that R-Type II takes place after R-Type Delta. Personal note: First things first - the ship's hit box is distinct on this ship - you can see the top of the ship, and directly underneath is a line where the top attaches. The main body of the ship is under this line, and that's where you're vulnerable. Why bring this up? Because during the boss battle one of the boss's bullets passed through the top of the ship and didn't kill me. I struggled long and hard about whether to keep this video or redo the stage but finally decided on keeping it, because I felt that my playing was pretty good overall. I've rerecorded a lot of these videos because of graphical things like that - bullets passing through part of the ship that was not the hit box, bullets getting too close to the ship, almost to the point where it wasn't fun anymore. This stage is so difficult, and this is good enough for me. Last note - when I started the Legendary R9 playlist, which was directly before the Ship Showcase project, my playtime was at 89 hours. It was at 124 hours after.
