After a four month break in the World Tour the Badco Team is back to the fishing grind. This time the team finds themselves in a familiar location from the beginning of the Tour - Porto Seguro, Brazil. It's been three years since the team last fished the legendary Charlotte Bank off Brazils East Coast. What makes this location especially unique in the tour its geographical location. Unlike most remote destinations in the past that are located near islands and atolls, Charlotte Bank is "mainland fishing." This trip the crew has a special guest on board. Local Professor and Marine Biologist, Pedro Castilho from The University of Rio de Janeiro is along to monitor and participate in the tagging of Blue Marlin on this expedition. The local government has given special permission for the team to tag 12 Marlin on this trip, in hopes of learning more about their fish migration patterns at Charlotte Bank. Everyday the team travels 40-50 nautical miles from the coast, directly upswell to fish this one of a kind bank. A sheer drop off from 200 feet to 2,000. The trip starts of rocky with some engine issues on day one. The team manages to briefly correct the engine faults just long enough to catch their first fish of the trip, a 700+ pound Blue Marlin that they successfully satellite tag. The next few days are a wash due to multiple issues and engine failures. The mothership Chief Engineer, Christian teams up with Badco Fishing Mate, Luis to troubleshoot all engine errors. Over the next four days the boys fix a multitude of corrosion related bugs in the electrical system. After nearly a week of partial fishing / troubleshooting days the boat is up and running...for the most part. However, another obstacle in the trip presents itself, fishing conditions on the bank have switched since the start of the trip. What was once a perfect condition to fish has flipped nearly 180 degrees. The wind direction has switched from the North to out of the South-East. What local fisherman consider "the kiss of death" for the Blue Marlin bite. A few slow days of fishing follow, with the end of the trip only a handful of days out. The fishing team remains persistent and keeps to their plan. Their luck begins to change and the ocean provides its reward... For more information about the Team, Fleet, or World Tour merchandise.
