2022 UTokyo 3MT – Masahiro Araki – Evacuate or not? Findings from behavior data analysis "Ordinary days are the most precious of all. However, our ordinary days have been suddenly destroyed by various calamities such as pandemics, typhoons, torrential rains, earthquakes, and tsunamis. Are we just helplessly accepting these calamities? Can we not foresee them and take countermeasures against them? I wanted to know the answer to these questions, so I have studied in the Departments of Civil Engineering and Urban Engineering at the University of Tokyo. I learned that many engineers have learned from past cases, improved their technology to build better infrastructures and that our ordinary days have existed on the basis of such infrastructures. Now, I would like to be a member of such engineers and be involved in the formation of quality infrastructure. This is why I am doing research as a Ph. D. student.
