Today we leave the busy streets of Hanoi and head south to one of the most beautiful places we’ve seen in Vietnam — Ninh Binh. We start the morning at a local coffee shop, sitting on the tiny stools that Vietnam is famous for, reflecting on our time in Hanoi before hopping on a shuttle to Ninh Binh. After checking into our stunning hotel tucked into the mountains, we head out for an unforgettable river and cave boat tour. For nearly two hours, we float through limestone mountains, quiet waterways, temples, and incredibly low caves where we have to duck and move carefully just to get through. This area is famous for being a filming location for Kong: Skull Island, and it’s easy to see why. The views, the sounds, and the calm atmosphere feel almost unreal. Toward the end of the day, things take a turn when I start feeling sick and end up battling a fever through the night after picking up a stomach bug somewhere along the way. Not ideal — but even that couldn’t take away from how incredible this experience was. This river and cave tour alone makes Ninh Binh worth the trip.
