These shabads are hymns or spiritual poems written by saints and mystics from different spiritual traditions of the Indian subcontinent. The shabads convey a deep message of truth and are sung with heartfelt devotion. They express the intense longing of the soul for union with the Lord. These songs of devotion are prayers that inspire the true seeker to turn inwards to contact the ultimate Truth – the inner divine music that reverberates within every being. English Translation: O deer-eyed bride, I tell you the truth that will emancipate you. O beautiful bride, hear my beautiful words: That your Beloved is the only support for your soul. You have fallen in love with an evil person. Tell me why. I do not lack anything, nor am I sad, and I am not without virtue either. Following evil advice, I abandoned my enchanting and beautiful Beloved; I have become an ill-fated wretch. On my own, I do not stray, nor do I go amiss, nor harbour ego, nor commit any offense. Hear, O Lord, my true supplication: As You have yoked me, so am I yoked. She alone is the beloved bride and she alone is fortunate – the one to whom her Groom extends His grace. Her Spouse rids her of all her vices. Embracing her to His bosom, the Lord adorns her. The unfortunate bride makes her supplication: When shall my turn come, O Nanak? All the beloved brides make merry. Bless me, too, with one night of union, O my Lord. This shabad is published by Radha Soami Satsang Beas. You may visit our official website at: www.rssb.org
