Here is her actual performance of the song on the Lawrence Welk show. • Jo Ann Castle on a Country and Western Show Jo Ann Castle was born Sep. 3, 1939. She is an American honky-tonk pianist, best remembered for appearing on The Lawrence Welk Show from about 1959 - 1969. She adopted her stage name from the name of an accordion manufacturer, another instrument she played proficiently. She was often referred to as "Queen of the Honky-Tonk Piano" by Lawrence Welk himself. It is said that on March 16, 1972, she made player piano roll history by becoming the first pianist in over 40 years to record (by invitation) a live performance on the QRS Marking Piano that dates back to 1912. George Gershwin himself recorded a few live performances on that piano. This song is one of 10 arrangements Jo Ann played that day in 1972. Those recordings became part of the QRS celebrity roll series. Other famous pianists such as Liberace, Eubie Blake, Roger Williams, and others would eventually follow her. Overtime, QRS introduced 13 different celebrities and 90 individual celebrity rolls ending with Ferrante & Teicher "Amtrak Boogie" (QRS CEL-190) in January 1982. I'm happy I can post this fine ragtime arrangement today. Please enjoy!
