This video demonstrates how to properly set up threaded lathe sleeves and maximize the performance of your tool. Designed to induce coolant to newer style holders without rear pipe taps, the threaded lathe sleeves are targeted for use on machine tools that do not have the capability to run through-the-turret coolant. Across the general machining industry, customers are able to directly plumb in an external coolant line to the back of the sleeve using a standard ½ NPT or ½ BSP pipe fitting. STEP 1: Prep the tool block by cleaning it out to make sure it is free of debris and chips. Wipe the tool block out with shop rag to remove any remaining coolant and chips. STEP 2: Insert the threaded lathe sleeve into the slot. Be sure to align the threaded lathe sleeve with the slot of the tool block mounting screws. The flange of lathe sleeve should be seated on the face of the tool block. STEP 3: Seat the tool against the front face of the threaded lathe sleeve. The tool flat should align with the slot and tool block mounting screws. STEP 4: Slowly alternate tightening the mounting screws down on each side. STEP 5: Thread in your coolant line. NOTE: Your setup may require a reducer. NOTE: Thread seal tape may be used on areas to reduce coolant leakage. STEP 6: Turn on the coolant to ensure your system has adequate coolant flow with minimal leakage. NOTE: Ensure your drills are on center before drilling to maximize the performance of the tool.
