A peak bagging adventure in the far north of Wales. The summit of Tal y Fan had eluded Me on two previous occasions for various reasons. This time I was determined to bag it. This walk would take in 6 other peaks on the Northern Carneddau. Starting from llanfaifechan, we headed steeply up onto Garreg. Views soon opened up towards the giants of this range with Foel Fras being just obscured in the mist. Now up on the moorland we had no protection from the elements and a journey over to Foel Dduarth was an arduous one. This peak marked the beging of a mini ridge which, if followed to conclusion, would bring you to Drum. We summited two other peaks along this ridge with stunning views down towards Afon Anafon. Leaving the ridge and heading North to pick up The Roman road, we made for Tal y Fan. Crossing the lower top of Foel Lwyd, we headed up and finnaly bagged Tal y Fan. Stunning views down The Conwy Valley and North to the coast greeted us. We lingered for a few minutes before impending rain forced a descent. Of course no walk would be complete without getting of track on a boggy moorland in heavy downpours. After bumbling about in the mud and heather we made the summit of Moelfre. Picking up the North Wales path, it was a short walk back to the car.
