Weeks had passed since the fierce showdown between Ryo and Daiki on the dry asphalt of the Nürburgring. The battle had left not only memories, but scars—on cars and drivers alike. In the quiet aftermath, both Ryo and Daiki took the time to repair the wounds their machines had suffered, restoring them to their former glory and preparing for the roads ahead. But the time of rest would not last long. Thanks to Daiki’s flourishing network of gas stations, the Akina Squad now found themselves backed by a generous influx of funding. Ryosuke, too, had made a few brilliant moves on the stock market, filling the squad’s war chest to levels they had never imagined before. For the first time, the dream of real progress wasn’t limited by money—but only by ambition. Seizing this golden moment, Takumi Fujiwara made a decision that had been long overdue. It was time for an upgrade. However, the thought of heavily modifying his father's beloved AE86 was unthinkable. That car was sacred—a symbol of countless battles, a vessel of memories. So Takumi chose a different path. He acquired a second AE86. Through the deep connections of his father and Ryosuke, a fresh high-revving engine was sourced—one that would push the new chassis to limits never before imagined. Around it, a masterpiece was born: a brand-new aerodynamic kit, widened fenders, aggressively extended track width, high-performance tires, and a further refined engine setup that sharpened every heartbeat behind the wheel. And in a nod to tradition and pride, the new car was painted in the exact same iconic white-and-black livery as the original—a silent promise that some things, no matter how much changes, would always stay the same. The transformation was no small feat. Nearly a full month of hard work poured into the build. Without the newly hired mechanic team—recruited personally by Ryosuke and reminiscent of Project D’s golden days—the project would have taken much longer. But now, with a mobile support crew ready to follow them across every road and mountain pass, the Akina Squad stood stronger than ever before. And they would need every advantage they could get. With Bunta and Ryosuke already laying the groundwork for the next grand tour, Takumi’s new machine had to be tested—thoroughly and mercilessly. The journey began at the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit, where the twisting, punishing climbs pushed both man and machine to their limits. Afterward, Tsukuba's technical corners honed the setup to perfection, carving precision into raw speed. Finally, under the shimmering neon lights of Tokyo Expressway's East loop, Takumi joined forces with Ryosuke and Keisuke Takahashi, as well as his father Bunta, for a brutal high-speed trial session. Every engine roar, every slipstream duel, every razor-sharp braking maneuver—each one a step closer to mastery. The verdict? The car was perfect. It wasn’t just faster. It was a different beast entirely. And just in time. Because in the distance, the engines of new challengers were already roaring—ready to test the Akina Squad like never before. The second stage... had truly begun.
