The NERI seminar titled Productivity in Ireland's Domestically-Owned Market Economy: a Comparative Survey ' will be presented by Chris Smart, NERI economist. Abstract: This presentation will be based on the findings from NERI Report Series no. 35, written with SIPTU researcher Michael Taft. Chris and Michael compare enterprise productivity across the main market sectors in the European small, advanced, open economies, focusing exclusively on domestically-owned (or indigenous) enterprises, excluding foreign-owned companies. This presentation will present the main findings from this research, extend the findings to 2022 (the most recently available year), and discuss the methodology employed in the context of alternative methodologies available for analysing domestic productivity in a multinational-dominated economy. Biography of presenter: Mr. Chris Smart is an economist at the Nevin Economic Research Institute based in our Dublin office. A graduate of NUI Galway and University College Dublin, Chris’s research interests include social insurance, labour markets, and productivity. Chris is currently working on a labour market mapping project in partnership with NERI colleagues.
