Oldie but a goodie. Bought this off Ebay. Ebay sucks nowadays, but once in a while you can find a good deal. Blackcat/Wawasee's smallest and some think the best little modulator box, the JB-12. The JB-12 and its slightly bigger brother the JB-150 are identical physically on the outside, but with its top down, the JB-150 has a slightly bigger transformer and of course has a big Octal type tube 84I7 which is a high powered version of the 6l6 tube while the JB-I2 uses the much smaller 6bq5. The JB-I2 is designed to dead key 4 watts or less by using the variable input tuner in the rear, and it will swing to approx 20 average, 50 peak. The JB-I50 is made to deadkey 20 or less and it will swing to around 40 average and to I00 peak. Blackcat tried to get people to keep the dead key dialed down with the 'Set to Line' meter. You were supposed to set it up to that line or less. Going over would first eat the tubes then soon after blow the power transformer. You will find a lot of small JB's with blown trannies as you know how mud-ducks are. They get a million jigga-watts out of theirs. Anyway, if you like swing and especially putting a little swing in a bigger amp, JB's are one of the best. The Blackcat JB-76 had of the big tubes and would dead key 40 and swing to 200 peak. The rare Blackcat 440 had 4 of the tubes and did around 440 watts out. I sold my 440 like 20 years ago and even if I had one, I would want a crazy over the top price for it. Of course the Blackcat JB-2000 which labeled itself as the King of desktop amps was nothing more than a clone of the Heathkit SB-220. Some JB-2000's had a driver, some did not.
