The relic is an auroch horn which is thought to be around 5,000 years old and was discovered by two brothers off the coast of Sudbrook, Monmouthshire who work as fishermen. Aurochs populated Britain in the Neolithic period and are thought to have gone extinct on British shores around 3,500 years ago. Aurochs were a species of large wild cattle that inhabited Asia, Europe, and North Africa and are the ancestor of domestic cattle.
