It was a warm and sunny day. I drove about 32 km along a road surrounded by water from both sides. You can only see the water from one side. It was a nice experience. It spans a length of 32 kilometers and connects the provinces of North Holland and Friesland. The Afsluitdijk was constructed to protect the low-lying areas of the Netherlands from flooding by blocking off the Zuiderzee, creating a freshwater lake known as the IJsselmeer.
