Canadian drummer extraordinaire Larnell Lewis (Snarky Puppy amongst others) put up a video on instagram towards the end of 2020 with himself playing a Kalimba sequence on a Yamaha drum-pad, inviting musicians around the world to download music & video and create something around it. Here you can listen to the original: • IN THE MOMENT - LARNELL LEWIS So I took up the challenge, put on my "African hat" (well, actually "shirt" in this case...) and created my own little personal vibe around it ... and this is, what I came up with. Always loved African music and when I heard Larnell's track, I felt instantly inspired ... hope, you all like it ! Instruments I used on this track: TAYLOR "Doyle Dykes" signature model steel-string acoustic HANNO KIEHL custom made steel-string acoustic MUSIC MAN Stingray 5 string bass FENDER vintage (1955) "Champ" lapsteel guitar VOX AC30 guitar amp / Ibanez TS-808 "tubescreamer" overdrive REMO Kanjira (Indian hand drum) Nder drum (large Senegalese Sabar drum) Qraqebs medium & small size (Morrocian Gnawa handpercussion) Caxixi shakers (West Africa & Brazil) Running my own recording studio for many years now, I'm quite familiar with tracking and mixing audio ... but have never seriously worked myself with video recording (let alone editing). So, after doing a bit of research, I got myself a SONY RX100 M5 camera, a few LED panels and the amazing DaVinci Resolve (16) editing software ... and (after a simple debut on my last YouTube upload) I had to dig deeper here to record all the different video clips, and especially editing with multiple split-screens and color grading etc. ... not perfect, but I learned a whole lot !
